We are committed to ensuring that every pupil is treated fairly and equally and is supported to achieve their full potential academically, socially and personally. Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) reflects this commitment, focusing on identifying individual needs early and removing barriers to learning so that all pupils can make meaningful progress.

We believe that high-quality Wave One teaching – often referred to as Quality First Teaching – is the foundation of effective inclusion. Through inclusive classroom practice, carefully planned lessons and adaptive teaching strategies, all pupils benefit from a learning environment that meets a wide range of needs. This ensures that most needs are met through excellent everyday teaching, with additional support provided where required.

We recognise that many children and young people will experience Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities at some point during their education. Some pupils may need extra or different support to help them learn alongside their peers. Richmond Hill Academy is committed to working in close partnership with parents and carers to understand each child’s strengths and needs and to remove barriers to learning together.
